SSLA alumni are placed across a wide range of sectors globally, from academia and public policy to development, finance, technology, and the social sector, reflecting the interdisciplinary and applied nature of the liberal arts curriculum at the institute. Their trajectories highlight how the programme’s mix of majors, minors, and research training translates into careers that combine critical thinking, communication, and domain-specific expertise.
Many SSLA graduates pursue advanced degrees at reputed universities abroad and in India, especially in fields such as counselling psychology, comparative literature, neuroscience, and society and culture, and then move into academic or research-oriented careers.
A significant number of alumni work as professionals in diverse sectors, including law, banking and finance, gender and development, and public policy, often after completing specialised master’s programmes. Several alumni occupy roles in international organisations, NGOs, and global health and development spaces, where they manage programmes and coordinate multi-country initiatives.
SSLA alumni are also active as entrepreneurs and in the broader social sector, founding or contributing to ventures in education technology, social media and content marketing, and community development. Initiatives such as The Invisible Paintbrush, Skizaa, The Letter Alley, and Happy Triangle Foundation demonstrate how graduates apply creative, analytical, and ethical perspectives to build organisations that address real-world needs in communication, schooling, and community wellbeing.
