Bio

Ananya Dutta has been teaching courses in English and Media Studies at the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts (SSLA) since 2016. Prior to her foray into academics, she worked as a journalist, first at The Hindu and later at The Times of India for six years. he is a recipient of the Anant Gopal Shevade award for excellence in English journalism awarded by the government of Maharashtra. Her areas of academic interest are Indian Writing in English, Narratology and Media Ethics.

Research Interests

  • Along with two colleagues here at SSLA, she has worked on a Research Project titled 'Traditions of Devotion' that has been documenting the lived experiences and narrative traditions at sites associated with the Bhakti-Sufi syncretic tradition in Maharashtra. With a training in both English and Media Studies, she is keen to explore intersections between the disciplines and is currently working on Narrative Journalism.
